Fencing with Nick and Shamus

By allpaws, May 23 2015 04:36PM

Hi and welcome back. A collegue of ours got in touch this month. He gets us garden maintenance work. We arrived at the job address in Tamworth, it was throwing it down with rain. I popped my head around the gate to see Nick and Shamus Sodden to the bone trying to dig out the 1st old concrete post. Nick hit the concrete and the steel bar went ting ting. It was sold. The Kango hammer wouldnt even touch it. As Nick and Shamus were wiping their sweaty brows I looked along the fence line and right at the end there was an old tree stump. On closer inspection we realised it was a big old Chestnut. I said "Nick ive got our Turfer Winch in the van!!" Nick and Old Shamus smiled with relief. "Do you think it'll work?" said Nick.....

"Oh yeah" I replied "it'll winch 3.2 ton dead weight, let's try it"

Me and Libby went off to the van and came back to the stump with the Turfer Winch, the cable, the handle and the 5 ton strap. We set it up off the old stump and put the end of the cable around the 1st post. I started to winch and it came out like a dream. The concrete was enormous on the dam thing. It sure would of taken longer to dig it out. Then 1 by 1 they fell. By 11.30 we had them all out. Nick was well pleased as we even managed to get 8 bays of the new fence up before we left.

Nice one Nick look forward to the next one
